The Faculty of Pharmacy at the Lebanese University celebrated the graduation of a new class of students (classes of 2023-2024 and 2024-2025) during a ceremony presided over by the president of the Lebanese University, Dr. Bassam Badran, and attended by the dean of the faculty, Dr. Issam Kassab, the President of the Lebanese Order of Pharmacists, Dr. Joe Salloum, members of the Order's Council, representatives of the security services and the army, the pharmaceutical industry, figures from the academic and educational world, as well as a crowd of members of the Lebanese University and parents of the graduates.

After the Lebanese national anthem and the university anthem, students Theresa Abi Chaar and Nagham Mokachar spoke on behalf of the graduates and emphasized that the graduation ceremony was not so much a celebration of obtaining a degree as it was an affirmation of perseverance in the difficult conditions Lebanon is going through.

The graduates' speech emphasized that the Lebanese University was and would remain a home for all Lebanese people, marked by an honorable commitment to the pharmaceutical profession and keeping pace with scientific and technical developments.

Dean Kassab then took the floor and said that this graduation ceremony confirmed the continued work of the Faculty of Pharmacy and its contribution to the promotion of the Lebanese University, regardless of the circumstances.

Dean Kassab said, “Our serious and continuous work allows us to maintain our place in the job market, and our students occupy the top positions, which we are proud of. The Faculty of Pharmacy has retained its first place among pharmacy faculties in Lebanon according to the QS world rankings. The reputation and prestige of the Faculty of Pharmacy therefore open up promising prospects for its graduates...”

He added: “Dear parents, we extend our congratulations to you today and hope to remain worthy of your trust, as you are active partners in the training of pharmacists in Lebanon. Dear graduates, this diploma is the fruit of your labor and the culmination of your commitment to following the methodology of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Lebanese University.”

For his part, President Badran highlighted the latest ranking of the Faculty of Pharmacy, which is among the top 150 universities worldwide in the field of pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences, in addition to being ranked first in Lebanon.

President Badran addressed the graduates with these words: “Today, you join the ranks of pioneers who have taken the name of the Lebanese University to new horizons... Among the graduates of this faculty, some have founded cutting-edge research laboratories, others have developed innovative drugs, and still others have held leadership positions in international health institutions.”

President Badran highlighted the evolution of the pharmaceutical profession, particularly with artificial intelligence, digital pharmacy, gene therapies, personalized medicine, etc.

He added: “You are called upon to be at the forefront of this evolution and transformation by leading innovation and development in pharmaceutical services and linking the latest scientific advances to the needs of society.”
