Workshop on “Anthropology of Sound and Image”
The Lebanese University is organizing a training course entitled “Images, Sounds and Social Sciences” for anthropology and cinema students, between 5 and 8 November 2025.
The activity is part of ASWAT Festival for alternative scientific writing, in partnership with the Institute of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Fine Arts & Architecture, the French Institute for Research for Development (IRD), the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), and the French Institute for the Near East (IFPO).
The training aims to introduce participating students from the Institute of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Fine Arts & Architecture to alternative methods of scientific writing as a means of knowledge transfer and a research methodology.
The workshop provides participating students with an opportunity to carry out joint fieldwork from a multidisciplinary perspective, culminating in the production of a short film (between 3 and 5 minutes) that simulates the daily life of individuals during crises, using Burj Hammoud neighborhood as an example.
The training is supervised by French experts in collaboration with expert professors from the Lebanese University.
