Student Jana Ayyach registers a local patent in the field of industrial chemistry
Student Jana Ayyash from the Doctoral School of Science & Technology (DSST), registered a patent in the field of industrial chemistry with the Ministry of Economy & Trade in Lebanon under No. 12408 and entitled: “Innovative Chitosan Hydrogel from shrimp shells for biofilter system”.
The patent registered with the Intellectual Property Protection on 21 December 2021, relates to the manufacture of chitosan liquid or gel from shrimp shells to be used in the manufacture of a filter capable of removing organic and mineral pollutants and forming an anti-bacterial present in sewage water.
Jana is pursuing her doctoral dissertation in the field of water and environment in partnership between the DSST and the French University of Reims, under the supervision of Professor Akram Hijazi from the Lebanese University and Dr. Luminita Catoire from the French University and in cooperation with Dr. Hussein Hamad (Lebanese University), Dr. Mahamad Medlej and Dr. Anis Daou.
