Co-creation workshop between the Lebanese University and WISEMED
The Lebanese University, in partnership with the Mediterranean Initiative for Water Scarcity in Agriculture (WISEMED), organized a two-day workshop at the Central Administration Building to discuss the adoption of a coordinated, comprehensive, and flexible approach to water management in Lebanon.
The workshop brought together public authorities, practitioners, researchers, and local stakeholders to jointly address national water challenges. Key objectives included:
- Identifying Lebanon’s priority needs and challenges in irrigation and water management.
- Exploring sustainable and locally adapted solutions, including nature-based and non-conventional water solutions.
- Showcasing research capacities of the Lebanese University and lessons from EU-funded pilot projects.
- Strengthening collaboration between institutions, service providers, researchers, and farmers.
- Laying the groundwork for Lebanon’s contribution to the WISEMED Joint Water Management Action Plan.
The workshop also included policy dialogues, technical discussions, and research-driven exchanges, which will feed into the finalization of the WISEMED Action Plan in Lebanon.
