Conference on “Qalaat el-Hosn” at the FLHS - Branch 5
The Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences – Branch 5 organized a conference entitled “Qalaat el-Hosn in the High Shouf Mountains: Current Research and Perspectives in Lebanese Landscape Archaeology”.
During the conference, which was supervised by branch director Dr. Ahmad Nasrallah and attended by more than sixty researchers and students, the main results of archaeological research launched in 2018 in the Upper Chouf region and currently ongoing as part of the Italian-funded REVEAL project were presented.
The investigations are revealing a stratified monumental complex centered on a Roman-period temple, studied through an interdisciplinary approach aimed at reconstructing the long-term dynamics of the territory.
The conference also provided an important opportunity to discuss methodological and interpretative perspectives in landscape archaeology, fostering dialogue between architectural, stratigraphic, and territorial data, and promoting academic exchange and training activities with archaeology students.
