FDSPA – Branch 1 excels at the 3rd Asian Arabic Debate Championship

Bahaa Ghanem, Lynn Husseini, and Sara Machtoub, from the Faculty of Law and Political and Administrative Sciences (FLPAS) – Branch 1 and the Faculty of Letters and Human Science (FLHS) – Branch 1, won the title of best speakers at the 3rd Asian Arabic Language Debate Championship organized by the Sultanate of Oman, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and the Oman Debate Center, in collaboration with the Qatar Debate Center.

Participation in this championship follows the Lebanese University's first place finish at the national level and its excellent results at last year's Qatar International Debate Championship.

The Lebanese University team reached the quarterfinals of the championship after competing in four rounds, winning three of them against some of the largest universities participating in the championship, namely Al-Mustansiriyah University (Iraq), the University of Applied Sciences (Kuwait), and the International Islamic University (Malaysia). The final result was sealed by the victory of the Sultan Qaboos University team, which won first place in the competition.

The championship featured exciting competitions that brought together 40 educational institutions representing 18 Asian countries, with the participation of 145 competitors.

The Lebanese University team consisted of:

  • Bahaa Ghanem/team coordinator – FLPAS – Branch 1
  • Lynn Husseini/FLPAS – Branch 1
  • Sara Machtoub/FLHS – Branch 1
