  • PhD in Arabic Linguistics from the University of Lyon (2), France, in 1985;
  • PhD in General Linguistics from Aix-Marseille University, France in 1979;
  • Merit in Arabic Literature from the University of Lyon (2), France, in 1976;
  • Bachelor in Education from the Faculty of Pedagogy at the Lebanese University in 1975;
  • Bachelor in Arabic Literature from the Institute of Oriental Literature at Saint Joseph University, Beirut, in 1973.

Professional Career

  • Lecturer at the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences (Branch 4) in 1979 and the Faculty of Pedagogy (Branch 2) in 1980;
  • Director of the Faculty of Pedagogy (Branch 2) between 1999-2002 and 2005-2007;
  • Head of the Center for Educational Studies & Research at the Faculty of Pedagogy between 1998-2002;
  • Head of the Department of Languages & Literature at the Faculty of Pedagogy (Branch 2) between 1986-1999;
  • Director of a training course for middle school teachers in special education at the Faculty of Pedagogy in 1986;
  • Supervisor and rapporteur of dozens of master theses and PhD dissertations in the Faculties of Pedagogy, Letters & Human Sciences and the Doctoral School of Literature, Humanities & Social Sciences;
  • Member of the Lebanese Association for Educational Sciences;
  • Member of the Leadership Development Committee for the preparation of principals of public schools in Lebanon / Ministry of Education & Higher Education between 2004-2008;
  • Author of books and research papers published in Arabic and French on the Arabic language and teaching methods, cognitive neurosciences and education, and the phonology of the Lebanese colloquial language.
