Scientific Qualifications

  • State PhD in Science from Aix-Marseille University (3) - France in 1978.
  • PhD in Biogeography from Toulouse University (3) - France in 1972.
  • Diploma of Advanced Studies in Environmental Sciences from Toulouse University (3) - France in 1970.
  • BA in Natural Sciences from the Faculty of Science at the Lebanese University in 1969.

Professional Career

  • Lecturer at the Faculty of Science – Branch 1 in 1978.
  • Promoted to the rank of professor in 1988.
  • Dean of the Faculty of Public Health between 1993 and 2001.
  • Contributed to the establishment of the Speech & Occupational Therapy Department at the Faculty of Public Health.
  • Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences and the Faculty of Dental Medicine in 1997 and between 2000-2010.
  • Coordinator of the International Relations Unit at the Lebanese University Presidency for several years.
  • Contributed to French language support programs at the Lebanese University.
  • Coordinator of the Lebanese-French CEDRE Program for Scientific Research Support between 1997-2012.
  • Chair of the Regional Expert Committee at the Middle East Office of the AUF between 2001-2011.
  • Member of the Scientific Council of the AUF for several years.
  • Author of dozens of research papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals related to plants, climate, environment, pollution, and health.
