Born in Taybeh, in 1955

 

Scientific Qualifications

  • PhD in Urban Planning from the University of Paris 1, in 1986;
  • Diploma of Higher Specialized Studies in Urban Planning from the University of Paris 8, in 1985;
  • Post-graduate diploma in architectural engineering from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture (FFAA) - Lebanese University (LU), in 1981.

Professional Career

  • Lecturer at the FFAA, in 1987;
  • Promoted to the grade of Professor, in 2008;
  • Director of the FFAA - Branch 1, 1996 - 1999
  • Head of the Department of Architecture at the FFAA - Branch 1, 1991 - 1995;
  • General Coordinator of the New Programs and Curricula Committees at the FFAA, 2004 - 2019;
  • Rapporteur of the Program Development Committee of the Department of Architecture at FFAA, 2004 - 2019;
  • Contributed to the development of the Graduate Department of Urban Planning at FFAA;
  • Member of the founding committee and permanent participant in the Arab Architectural Exhibition for Graduation Projects (14 exhibitions since 1999);
  • Member of the editorial board of the Journal of Art and Architecture affiliated to the FFAA for about 20 years;
  • Member of the LU Building Committee, 2010 - 2019;
  • Director of graduation projects and doctoral dissertations for FBAA and Doctoral School of Humanities and Social Sciences (DSHSS) students at LU;
  • Participated in the juries for the defense of final year projects for several years in Syria, Jordan and Morocco;
  • Participated in several arbitration juries, including for the Lebanese Architecture Award at the Order of Engineers in 2017, and the Design Competition of the Damour Engineers Club / Order of Engineers, in 2016;
  • Member of the jury for the design competition for the commercial markets in downtown Beirut, in 1997;
  • Worked as a consulting engineer in the public and private fields;
  • Member of the advisory committee of the "Waad" project for the reconstruction of the southern suburbs;
  • Participated in the design of the Qana Martyrs Monument and Museum, the design of the Saraya Bint Jbeil Government Office and various public buildings;
  • Participated in several local and international conferences on architecture, rehabilitation of heritage buildings, energy and engineering;
  • Winner of the Order of Engineers Award for Pioneering Academic Architects in Lebanon, 2019.
