Scientific Qualifications

  • PhD in Social Sciences/Demography from the Lebanese University in 1998.
  • Master of Advanced Studies in Demography from the Institute of Social Sciences at the Lebanese University in 1985.
  • Merit in Social Sciences from the Institute of Social Sciences at the Lebanese University in 1983.
  • Bachelor in Social Sciences from the Institute of Social Sciences at the Lebanese University in 1982.

Professional Career

  • Lecturer at the Faculty of Pedagogy at the Lebanese University from 2002 until 2006.
  • Lecturer at the Institute of Social Sciences in 2004 and in Branches 1, 3 and 5.
  • Director of the Institute of Social Sciences (Branch 5) between 2019-2022.
  • Head of the Population & Development Department at the Institute of Social Sciences (Branch 5) in 2018.
  • Member of the Lebanese Sociological Society and the Arab Association of Sociology.
  • Founding member of the Cooperative Society for Cultural Development Services - Demography.
  • Former Head of the Public Relations & Conferences Department at the Ministry of Social Affairs/Lebanon, Secretary of the Permanent National Population Committee and Executive Director of the Lebanese Family Health Survey for several years.
  • Worked within a number of joint projects between the Ministry of Social Affairs, ESCWA, and the Council of Arab Ministers for Social Affairs.
  • Expert in public administration and graduate of the National Institute for Administration and Development / Civil Service Council in 1998.
  • Author of research papers and studies published on development, population, gender equality, and the role of NGOs and demographic transitions in Lebanon.
