LU categorically denies allegations of forged degrees and affirms integrity of its systems
Over the past few hours, some media outlets, news websites, and social media pages have been circulating allegations of a “fake degree scandal” attributed to the Lebanese University, based on a report recently aired by Al-Jadeed TV.
The Lebanese University Presidency categorically denies all allegations of the issuance of any forged certificates by the Lebanese University and clarifies the following to the public:
1- Contrary to what was stated in the aforementioned media report, Lebanese University certificates are not subject to equivalence by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
2- After a comprehensive and thorough review of all university records, no trace was found of the woman who claimed to have obtained a degree from the Lebanese University.
3- The president of the Lebanese University clarified this matter directly on air following the broadcast of the report, confirming the invalidity of the allegations and their inaccuracies.
4. The Lebanese University's electronic system is secure and has not been compromised, as it relies on precise monitoring mechanisms that immediately detect any illegal attempts to access it.
5- The report itself clearly stated that the forged degrees were issued by a private university and were recognized with the help of an employee at the Ministry of Education, so why was the issue distorted and false accusations directed at the national university?
The Lebanese University Presidency, while affirming its commitment to the university's reputation and the credibility of its locally and internationally recognized degrees, calls on everyone not to involve the Lebanese University in narrow personal agendas and demands that those concerned exercise accuracy and responsibility in addressing any issue that affects the national university.
The university also welcomes the referral of the case to the competent judicial authorities to uncover the full facts and, at the same time, calls on the judiciary to take action against the smear campaigns and falsification of facts targeting the Lebanese University and attempting to undermine the reputation of more than 400,000 graduates who hold senior positions in Lebanon and abroad.
The Lebanese University will remain a unifying national symbol, and its degrees will remain a reliable academic reference that generations can be proud of, regardless of any political considerations.
