Cooperation Visit: Chinese Ambassador Visits the CLT

The Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon, Chen Chuandong, visited the Center for Languages & Translation at the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences, in a meeting that comes within the framework of strengthening the academic and cultural cooperation that has existed between the Center and China since 2015.

The meeting was attended by President Bassam Badran, the Dean of the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences, Dr. Soha El Samad, the Director of the Center, Dr. Layal Merhi, and members of the Center's Board.

The visit discussed various academic and educational issues, most notably the promotion of the Chinese language as a living applied language at the CLT and the development of related projects, especially since the Center is unique in Lebanon in offering a university degree in Chinese.

During the meeting, the Chinese ambassador praised the importance of the Lebanese University's role in higher education as the only official university institution in Lebanon, noting the value of the excellent education provided by the CLT.

He also appreciated the efforts made by the University and the CLT's administration to promote cultural openness between Lebanon and China and provide a high-quality educational environment that offers students the best means for academic achievement.

The Chinese ambassador also met with a group of Chinese language students and graduates, who shared their experiences in learning Chinese and expressed their desire to continue developing their knowledge and honing their skills by all available means.
