Article 1
An “Institute of Applied and Economic Sciences” is hereby created at the Lebanese University.
Article 2
The Lebanese Association for Scientific, Technical, and Economic Education at various levels shall bear the financial costs of this institute in accordance with its annual budget.
Article 3
This institute shall operate according to special regulations established by mutual agreement between:
- the Lebanese University
- the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers - Paris.
- the Lebanese Association for Scientific, Technical and Economic Education at all levels.
It is approved by the Minister of National Education and Fine Arts.
Article 4
The Lebanese University (Faculty of Sciences) shall provide this institute with the necessary classrooms and laboratories, in accordance with the special regulations mentioned in Article 3.
Article 5
The management of the institute shall be supervised by a board of directors composed of:
- the President of the Lebanese University, who shall be its chairman;
Members:
- two representatives of the Lebanese Association for Scientific, Technical, and Economic Education at different levels
- two representatives of the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers – Paris
- the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences
- the Director of the Institute
- the Secretary General of the Lebanese University as Secretary.
Article 6
This institute awards two types of degrees:
The first type: higher education degrees in applied sciences for students who meet the admission requirements for higher education.
Promotion of work
The second type: degrees for working students.
Article 7
This decree shall enter into force as of the 1968-1969 academic year.
Article 8
This institute shall be considered dissolved if it does not commence its activities within two years of the date of publication of this decree.
Article 9
This decree shall be published and communicated where necessary.
