The LU wins Excellence Award in CFA Society Research Challenge 2025/2026
A team of students from the Faculties of Engineering and FEBA won the Excellence Award in the CFA Society Research Challenge 2025/2026, organized in Hamra - Beirut, by CFA Society Lebanon.
The competition allowed students to test their financial analysis and evaluation skills by analyzing the selected company JoPetrol using advanced financial tools, most notably:
- Risk Assessment
- DCF Model
- Financial Forecasting
- ESG Analysis
- EV/EBITDA Valuation
The student team included:
Salwa Alwan/1st year Master's in Finance - FEBA - Branch 3
Paul Makari/2nd year Bachelor's in Finance – FEBA - Branch 3
Oliver Daoud/3rd year Bachelor's in Finance – FEBA - Branch 6
Johnny Maksoud/3rd year in Mechanical Engineering – Faculty of Engineering - Branch 2
The team worked on preparing a detailed professional report under the supervision of Dr. Sarah Makhoul from the Lebanese University and Professor Tariq al-Jamil from CFA, which qualified them to be among the six final teams.
This participation comes within the framework of the LU Centre MINE's support for students and enabling them to engage in prestigious academic and professional competitions at the national and international levels.
