Consultative meeting on “Reforming State Administrations & Institutions 2030” at the Lebanese University
As part of the “Reforming State Administrations & Institutions 2030” project launched by the Ministry of State for Administrative Development in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics & Business Administration, the Central Administration hosted a consultative meeting attended by the Minister of Administrative Development, Dr. Fadi Makki, President Bassam Badran, and a number of deans and directors of faculties and institutes of the Lebanese University and its branches.
The meeting discussed involving stakeholders in the discussion of administrative reform priorities and future directions, and strengthening trust between citizens, administrations, and public institutions.
Minister Makki presented the Ministry's vision for modernizing state administrations and institutions, pointing to the major challenges that hinder their effectiveness, such as the slow pace of modernizing jobs and laws, weak organizational structures, and low effectiveness of the wage system, in addition to the fragility of the digital infrastructure and the absence of accountability.
Minister Makki stressed that addressing these challenges requires rebuilding the public sector on the basis of efficiency and transparency, leading to the development of a new social contract that restores trust between citizens and the administration.
Minister Makki also reviewed the three stages of “Reforming State Administrations & Institutions 2030”, starting with laying the foundations and developing a comprehensive vision, then developing a roadmap for public sector reform, and finally implementing a radical transformation of the structure of public administrations and institutions by 2030.
