FFAA - Branch 3 graduates win 1st prize for best architectural design for northern port gate

Graduates of the Faculty of Fine Arts & Architecture – Branch 3 (Abdel Muhaymin Abdul Qadir, Jamila Abou Daher, and Joudi Sadek) won first prize for best engineering design for the development of the northern entrance to the port city of Tripoli.

The award came after the three graduates participated in an architectural design competition for the northern entrance to the port, organized in collaboration between the Order of Engineers & Architects in Tripoli, represented by its president, engineer Shawqi Fatfat, and the “For Good, You and Me” Association, represented by its president, Ms. Yasmine Ghamrawi Ziadeh, and the Municipality of Mina, represented by its president, Mr. Abdallah Kabbara.

The winning design for the northern gate aims to create a symbolic and economic landmark that reflects the coastal identity, heritage, and culture of the port city, drawing inspiration from the Phoenician legacy, Arab culture, and the Ottoman era.

The project also focuses on the use of local materials, trees, and plants from the surrounding environment to achieve harmony with nature and respect for cost and sustainability.

The competition aimed to select a design that highlights the city's aesthetic identity and reflects its distinctive urban character, as well as to encourage youth energy and innovation in the field of engineering.
