The Faculty of Medical Sciences provides skilled, professional and ethical physicians in all medical specializations. The Faculty produces scientific and experimental studies in line with the medical development, by means of the research activities conducted by professors, students and the Neuroscience Research Center and the Medical Research Centre affiliated thereto.

Description

This certificate issued by the Faculty of Medical Sciences is a prestigious academic and professional qualification that allows the holder to practice medicine in Lebanon.

 

It is awarded after seven years of intensive study, including theoretical education and advanced clinical training, in accordance with national standards for medical education.

 

The first preparatory year is taught at one of the Faculty of Science branches, and students should obtain a grade of at least 12/20 to be allowed to take the entrance exam for the Faculty of Medical Sciences and succeed according to the ranking and within the number of spots available.

Requirements

General conditions + special conditions

  • Possession of a Lebanese high school diploma or its official equivalent

 

  • One of the following two options:
  1. Completion of the first preparatory year, with a minimum grade point average of 12/20 in all first-year courses at the Faculty of Science of the Lebanese University.
  2. Full success in all first-year courses in general medicine outside the Lebanese University with a grade point average not less than that of the student's university of origin.

 

  • The applicant should not have applied for admission more than twice.

 

Entrance exam criteria

  • Students are considered to have passed if they achieve an overall average of at least 12/20.
  • Any mark below 5/20 in any of the exam subjects will be considered invalid.
  • Students are accepted according to their overall average and within the number determined by the faculty council.
  • Admitted students should complete the registration procedures within (10) working days of the announcement of the admission results on the faculty notice board, under penalty of losing their right to enrollment and being replaced by another candidate according to the order of admission.

 

Note

Students transferring from public medical faculties to private universities are subject to a special exam organized by the Faculty of Medical Sciences to determine the equivalence or acceptance of their academic years according to conditions set by the faculty, including their acceptance in the fourth year as a maximum.
