- PhD in Literature from the Sorbonne University - Paris 1 in 1981;
- PhD in French & Comparative Literature from Sorbonne University - Paris 3 in 1980;
- Bachelor in Philosophy from the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences at the Lebanese University in 1977.
Professional Career
- Lecturer at the Institute of Social Sciences of the Lebanese University from 1980 until 2007;
- Director of the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences (Branch 3) between 1985-1987;
- Spent a research year in Berlin at the invitation of the Institute for Advanced Studies (1997-1998);
- Appointed Ambassador of Lebanon to the Arab Republic of Egypt and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States between 2007-2016;
- Appointed Member of the National Commission for UNESCO in 1998;
- Director of the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies/Beirut and Secretary General of the Lebanese Association for Ottoman Studies;
- Member of the Lebanese Sociological Association;
- Head of the Cultural Council of North Lebanon between 1984-1986;
- Author of publications (scientific and literary books), in addition to presenting and translating a number of books published in Lebanon and the Arab world.
