The Faculty of Dental Medicine seeks to train highly qualified specialist doctors who are able to provide treatment to patients in various fields of oral medicine and surgery, to raise awareness of the importance of oral health and to support scientific research. Within the relationship with the community, the Faculty of Dental Medicine includes clinics and laboratories that provide treatment services to citizens at nominal prices.

Research Units

  • Forensic Medicine and Human Identification Research Laboratory: This is the first laboratory established to support research projects in the field of forensic medicine and human identification. It is operated by experts and faculty members from the Department of Forensic Medicine.
  • Center of Excellence in Digitization, 3D Printing, and Biomaterials: The center is equipped with the latest digital technologies related to dental science and has equipment for testing dental materials.
  • Investigator Support Unit (ISU) to assist researchers with writing, statistics, and publishing.

 

Research Objectives:

  • Build a collaborative culture of research.
  • Explore new areas of innovative research by leading multidisciplinary research initiatives involving local and international collaboration.
  • Encourage teaching staff and student researchers to offer training courses and seminars on good research practices, research methodologies, thesis writing, literature review principles, research ethics, and organizing authors' work in the field of publishing.
  • Support the integration of new researchers and support mobility within and outside the country in coordination with the International Relations Office at the Lebanese University Presidency.
  • Build close links between public and private research institutions.
  • Develop and implement training and professional development programs at the postgraduate level.
  • Intensify the dynamics of innovation and develop and implement clear policies and procedures to improve innovation.
  • Develop an effective budgeting system to support research activities.
  • Build a unified, coherent, and transparent system for evaluating research.
  • Expand the network of resources related to doctoral programs by securing external funding from various sources and agencies to create dynamic and sustainable research teams and programs and prioritize research programs.
  • Provide scholarships to students and support their research through Lebanese University funds/government funds, ministries and other public bodies/private funds/WHO or private companies and institutions/international donors.
  • Expand the dissemination of research results to inform the scientific community, professionals, the public, and decision-makers.
  • Encourage the publication of results in locally and internationally recognized journals and websites.
  • Create a research newsletter.
