Born in Chiyah, Baabda district, 1918

 

Scientific Qualifications

  • Studied at the Jesuit Fathers' School.
  • Bachelor’s degree in law from the French Law School in Beirut in 1941.
  • PhD in Law from Saint Joseph University in Beirut.

Professional Career

  • Appointed President of the Lebanese University between 1970 and 1976.
  • Appointed Dean of the Faculty of Law, Political & Administrative Sciences between 1961 and 1970.
  • Appointed Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon between 1985 and 1991.
  • Elected a member of the Lebanese Parliament for Baabda district in the 2005 session.
  • President of the Beirut Bar Association for four years.
  • Head of the Lebanese delegation to sign the UN Charter in San Francisco.
  • Author of several books, most notably in the legal field, and was a legal reference in various cases.

 

Passed away in 2006.
