Scientific qualifications

  • PhD in social and economic sciences from the University of Paris 5, in 1978.
  • State PhD in Humanities from the University of Paris 5, in 1984.

Professional Career

  • Teacher-researcher at the Lebanese University (LU), in 1979, until his retirement, in 2017.
  • Director of the Institute of Social Sciences (ISS) - Branch 2 at the LU, between 1993 and 1999.
  • Member of the Scientific Committee of the ISS Research Center, between 1998 and 2004.
  • Member of the Scientific Committee of the Department of Economics at the Doctoral School of Law and Political, Administrative and Economic Sciences (DSLPAES), between 2012 and 2017.
  • Economic and financial advisor to a number of research and academic institutions and official figures.
  • Director of more than 65 PhD theses in several Lebanese and French universities.
  • Visiting Professor at the University Panthéon-Assas - Paris 2, between 2001 and 2003.
  • Member of the Scientific Committee of CEDIMES at the University of Paris 2, between 1993 and 1998.
  • Coordinator of the training of economics teachers at the Faculty of Pedagogy (FPE) of the UL, in 2017.
  • Member of the National Committee for the Development of the Baccalaureate Program / Economics and Sociology in Lebanon, between 1996 and 1997.
  • Author of the book "The policy of financial cut in Lebanon and its economic and social repercussions" published by the International Center for Development, in Paris, in 2006.
  • Author of 17 books on the Lebanese and Arab economy and finance" and more than 90 studies published in scientific journals and conferences in Lebanon and abroad.
  • Laureate of the Medal of the General Assembly of the Middle East Council of Churches, in 2022.
  • Recipient of the Academic Palm of the French government, in 2004.
