C- Practical and preclinical exams include written, oral, and practical exams, as well as assessment grades.
D- Examinations in clinical subjects include continuous assessment and a final exam.
Article 2
- The number of midterm and final exams is determined based on the number of teaching hours scheduled for each subject, as follows:
|
Number of teaching hours in the subject |
Type and number of exams |
|
2 credits or less |
Final exam only |
|
More than 2 credits |
A midterm exam and a final exam |
|
The % of continuous assessment and/or partial exams |
Type and number of exams |
|
40% |
60% |
Quick, unannounced exams may be organized, with the exception of midterm and final exams in each subject.
They are taken into account in the continuous assessment at a rate of 10%.
Any written exam that is part of a midterm or final exam is subject to the following criteria:
- The duration and grade for each question are specified in the exam.
- After marking the exam, each examiner places the correct answers and the true or false questions in the exam envelope. They also establish the marking criteria for analytical questions.
- It is up to each department to determine the nature and type of questions according to the subject taught.
Article 3 - Exams in scientific subjects (Practical Work)
Scientific subjects are graded on a scale of 100 and broken down into percentages as follows:
- Continuous assessment throughout the term or year: 60%.
- Final written or oral exam: 20%.
- Final practical exam: 20%.
The continuous assessment mark is subject to predefined criteria that are communicated to each student.
Article 4 - Pre-clinical examinations
Pre-clinical subjects are marked out of 100 and distributed as follows:
- Continuous assessment mark: 60%
- Oral exam grade: 20%
- Pre-clinical final exam grade: 20%
Article 5 - Clinical exams
Each clinical session is graded, and the average of the clinical session grades constitutes the clinical grade, which accounts for 60% of the final grade. The final examination of clinical work accounts for 40% of the grade, broken down as follows: 20% for the final oral examination and 20% for the final clinical assessment. The continuous assessment grade for clinical work is awarded according to criteria that are known and announced in advance.
Note: Students should be informed of at least two grades during the year for clinical work, and the average grade should be approved by the majority of the faculty members in the department concerned.
Chapter 2: Success, year repetition, and absence
Article 6
A- Any student who obtains an average of less than 60/100 in all practical, clinical, and preclinical subjects, regardless of their overall average, is considered to be repeating a year.
A student who obtains an average of less than 60/100 in all of their final grades, or whose final average is less than 40/100 in more than three theoretical subjects, regardless of their overall average, shall also be considered to be repeating the year.
B- Students who obtain a final grade of 60/100 or higher and whose final grade is less than 40/100 in no more than three subjects are considered to have passed.
C- If a student fails a course at the end of the first semester exams, they retain the continuous assessment mark from the second semester and the final mark is then composed of the second semester mark for the final exam and the continuous assessment mark (if available).
D- Students who catch up on their courses at the beginning of the year take an exam in all subjects which they failed. They are only considered to have passed if they obtain a grade of at least 60/100 in each subject. They may proceed to the next academic year if they do not meet this requirement, provided that they do not have more than three theoretical subjects in arrears.
Note: Students are only allowed to take the final clinical exams after completing the required number of clinical cases predefined by each department of the faculty.
Article 7
A - Any student who, without valid excuse, fails to attend the final exam will receive a grade of zero.
B - Any student who fails to attend a partial exam will receive a grade of zero, unless they are absent for a valid reason recognized by the faculty council, in which case the grade for the partial exam will be added to that of the final exam.
C. Valid excuses are as follows:
- the death of a first-degree relative.
- the student should inform the administration in writing of their absence within 72 hours of the date of their absence and, if they are ill, they must present a medical certificate certified by a doctor approved by the faculty.
- The final decision to accept or reject any excuse for absence rests with the branch council, and the council's decision is final and cannot be appealed.
Article 8
A- Attendance at theoretical classes is compulsory for all students. For historical reasons, up to 10% (ten percent) of absences may be authorized for each subject.
B - Attendance at practical and pre-clinical classes is 100% (one hundred percent) compulsory and absence from these classes is only accepted for legitimate reasons.
C - Any student who violates the provisions of paragraphs (A) and (B) of this article and whose absence is not justified for a reason recognized by the faculty council shall be considered to be repeating the year.
