Article 1
Decree No. 16336 dated 05/18/1964 (Establishment of a Language Center at the Faculty of Letters at the Lebanese University) is hereby repealed.
Article 2
A center called the Language and Translation Center shall be established at the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences at the Lebanese University, hereinafter referred to as “the Center.”
Article 3
1- The Center shall be affiliated with the Faculty Dean's Office. It shall operate at the level of its branches according to need and available resources.
2- The location of the Center shall be determined by a decision of the President of the Lebanese University based on a proposal by the Faculty Dean.
Article 4
The mission of the Center is to prepare language courses according to a specific system for students of the Faculty of Letters and Human Science, using the latest audio-visual aids in cooperation with all sectors and departments involved in language teaching, as well as to prepare students for a degree in translation.
Article 5
The Lebanese University Council determines the language departments for which the Center is responsible for preparing educational courses, and appoints its system, curricula, and translation department curricula, based on the proposal of the Faculty Council.
Article 6
The Faculty Dean shall be responsible for the general supervision of the Center's activities.
Article 7
The Center shall be managed by a Director and a Council in accordance with the powers and rights stipulated in the regulations relating to Branch Directors and Councils in the Lebanese University faculties.
Article 8
The Council shall consist of:
- The Director of the Center, as Chair.
- One of the Branch Directors appointed by the President of the University based on the recommendation of the Faculty Dean, as a member.
- The heads of the Language and Translation Departments, as members.
Article 9
All decisions and recommendations of the Director and the council are subject to the approval of the Faculty Dean.
Article 10
This decree shall be published and communicated as necessary.
