Festival “Spring of the Earth – 2025” at the FFAA - Branch 1

Under the patronage and in the presence of President Bassam Badran, the Faculty of Fine Arts & Architecture – Branch 1 held the second edition of its Spring Festival entitled “Spring of the Earth – 2025”.

The festival was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Hisham Zeineddine, the Director of Branch 1, Engineer Nawal Boudani, a number of branch directors and heads of academic departments, actor and director Georges Khabbaz, in addition to a delegation from the Actors' Syndicate and the Lebanese Artists Association for Painting and Sculpture, a representative of the Order of Engineers and Architects, and a crowd of faculty members and students.

The ceremony began with a welcome speech by Ms. Boudani, in which she highlighted the activities of the “Tashkeel” exhibition as the faculty’s first artistic event, followed by the film and theater festival, entitled “Spring of the Earth”.

President Bassam Badran delivered a speech in which he emphasized that “Spring of the Earth” is not just the title of an activity, but a call to celebrate nature and make it our companion in our creative and scientific journey.

President Badran noted that the honor bestowed upon the great artist Georges Khabbaz by President Joseph Aoun is a recognition of his value and efforts and reflects the respect of society, the university, and the state for the honoree, his cultural legacy, and the role of the arts in promoting national awareness.

Dean Zeineddine began his speech by greeting the faculty students, its branch directors, professors, and administrators, noting that it is impossible to talk about the dynamism of the faculty, the high level of its graduates, and its local and Arab standing without thanking the professors, especially those who are contracted, who make sacrifices while waiting to be released from their commitments as soon as possible because the university needs them.

The festival included a theatrical performance by theater students and the screening of seven short graduation films by cinema and television students, which are among the outstanding projects of students in recent years and have participated in local and international festivals.

The Agora Square at the faculty witnessed an exhibition of students' work from various departments under the supervision of Professor Hassan Hussein, as well as a singing performance by the Lebanese University Choir led by Dr. Khaled Al-Abdallah.

The festival also hosted a discussion between artist Georges Khabbaz and students, who talked about his career in theater, cinema, and television, as well as the international awards he has won. The faculty administration honored him with a portrait painted by artist Rania Amro, professor at the faculty.
