The LU celebrates graduation of students from the Faculties of Science, Letters and Arts in North-Lebanon
The Faculty of Science, Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences, Faculty of Fine Arts & Architecture – Branch 3 organized a joint graduation ceremony (academic year 2024–2025) at the Michel Sleiman University Campus. – Ras Maska, under the patronage of President Bassam Badran and in the presence of political, academic, educational, legal, and social figures, as well as the families of the graduates.
Dr. Kamila Mattar delivered a welcoming speech, followed by a speech by student Rim Khalil on behalf of the graduates. Then the deans took turns speaking, starting with Dr. Hisham Zeineddine, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts & Architecture, who considered that the arts are not a luxury but a human need and a pillar of society, pointing out that architects, calligraphers, and creators are the guardians of identity and the mirror of the age.
Dr. Ali Kanj, Dean of the Faculty of Science, emphasized the role of science in developing society and addressing crises, stressing that the Faculty of Science continues to update its programs and encourage its students to engage in scientific research in order to remain a key driver of the national economy.
Dr. Soha Samad, Dean of the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences, spoke and emphasized that words, culture, and research in the humanities are the pillars that balance the progress of society.
Dr. Issam Obeid, Director of the FFAA - Branch 3, gave a speech in which he emphasized that the Lebanese University will remain a beacon of knowledge, embracing its students in a modern educational environment through the development of curricula and laboratories and the encouragement of scientific research and creativity.
Dr. Janine Al-Shaar and Dr. Ahmad Allouch also spoke, emphasizing that the Lebanese University is the cornerstone of Lebanon's intellectual, economic, and social renaissance. It is a unifying national project, a bastion of educational justice, and a beacon that produces students capable of competing locally and internationally.
President Badran gave a speech in which he considered graduation to be a new beginning for a generation carrying the torch of knowledge, emphasizing that the Lebanese University continues to advance in global rankings, placing 515th globally according to the QS 2026 rankings and first in Lebanon in certain majors.
President Badran emphasized that education at the Lebanese University is a national mission and responsibility, adding that graduation is not a personal milestone but a message of hope for every young man and woman that the doors of knowledge will remain open no matter how difficult the circumstances.
