Abbas Ballouk wins the Lebanese University Chess Championship

Dr. Hussein Bazzi, Dean of the Faculty of Science – Branch 1 opened the annual chess championship, which was organized with the participation of more than 40 students from various faculties of the university.

 

The championship adopted the Swiss system consisting of six rounds with a time limit, and the tables witnessed fierce competition and a remarkable closeness in points, with student Abbas Ballouk (Faculty of Engineering - Branch 3) succeeding in clinching the championship title.

The tournament was organized by a management team that included the head of the Branches 1, coach Saleh Zeaiter, and coach Abdel Karim Faqih, while international referee Elie Khairallah was in charge of technical supervision and refereeing.

 

At the end of the championship, cups and medals were distributed to the winners.
