Article 1
Decision No. 2221 dated 9 October 1999 and Articles 3 and 7 of Decision No. 1267 dated 7 July 1998 concerning the study and examination system at the University Institute of Technology are hereby repealed and replaced by the following:
New Article 3
1- At the end of each semester, a single exam covering the course material for that semester shall be held. The dates of the exam shall be determined by the Institute's administration.
2- Each grade shall be weighted by a specific number in the academic curriculum. These exams shall cover both theoretical and practical sections.
3- Students shall take periodic exams for each theoretical subject, with no more than two exams per subject per semester, according to a schedule determined by the Institute's administration.
4- To calculate the final grade for a subject, the midterm exam grade shall account for 35% of the final grade for the subject.
5- At the end of the practical work for each subject, exams for that subject will be held, and their marks will constitute 50% of the final grade, while the average mark for the practical work for that subject during the semester will constitute 50%.
6- The practical part will be weighted by a number specified in the curriculum.
7- The director of the Institute supervises the examinations and ensures their proper implementation.
8- Examination committees are appointed for each course by decision of the president of the university based on the recommendation of the director of the Institute. Each committee shall consist of at least two members, one of whom shall be the professor of the course.
9- The course professor shall prepare the exam questions, and the committee shall correct the exams. If the course professor is unable to attend, the university president shall appoint a substitute based on the recommendation of the university director.
10- Two examiners shall correct the semester exams. The average of the two marks shall be taken if the difference between them does not exceed 10%. If the difference exceeds 10%, the director shall appoint a committee to re-correct the exams.
11- An examination committee composed of professors from each department shall meet to discuss and announce the final results for the academic year.
12- Every student who obtains an annual average of 12/20 or higher, without falling below 28/20 in the theoretical section, shall be considered to have passed the academic year.
Students who fail the first year with an annual average between 9/20 and 12/20 are entitled to re-enroll in the first year in the same specialization. Students who obtain an annual average lower than 9/20 are not allowed to re-enroll in the first year until they pass the entrance exam again.
In this case, students are entitled to continue in the major in which they were previously enrolled.
New Article 7
1- The training period for students is divided into two stages: stage 1 in the second year and lasting ten weeks, and Stage 2 in the third year and lasting ten weeks.
2- At the end of the training period in the 2nd year, the student shall submit a report to the Head of Department, detailing the activities and work during the training period. The professor responsible for the student training shall also submit a report, which shall be kept in the student's file. The director of the institute shall appoint a professor, in addition to the head of the department and the professor responsible for the training, to evaluate the student's training period, and a mark shall be given that accounts for 4% of the final mark for the third year.
At the end of the training period in the 3rd year, the student submits a report, which is discussed before an examination committee appointed by the director of the Institute, and the mark accounts for 6% of the final mark for the third year.
3- Each student in the 3rd year prepares a graduation project, which is discussed before an examination committee appointed for this purpose.
The grade for the graduation project accounts for 25% of the total marks for the third year.
