The exhibition coordinator, Dr. Najad Abdel Samad, emphasized that this activity coincided with World Social Justice Day, affirming the role of culture in preserving heritage and empowering young people. He also stressed that the project embodied the integration between academic research and community practice, with students approaching Baakline as a “living archive.” They drew on local history and the natural landscape to write visual monographs of more than forty-eight pages, which are distinguished by their integration and precision of execution.
For his part, the mayor of Baakline, Mr. Kamel Al-Ghousseini, affirmed that art is not a luxury but a structural element that helps consolidate identity and strengthen the sense of belonging, and that this initiative has placed Baakline back in its true cultural context.
Mr. Al-Ghousseini also emphasized that cooperation with the Lebanese University was an investment in the potential of young people and laid the foundations for a practical partnership that could translate into cultural and sustainable development projects in the city.
For his part, the director of FFAA - Branch4, Dr. Zaher Abdel Khalek, emphasized that Baakline has a historical and cultural heritage that cannot be summed up in a few words, and that the academic institution's responsibility is to transform this heritage into research and creative work that preserves the collective memory and reproduces it visually. Dr. Abdel Khalek stressed that the fortieth anniversary of the creation of Branch 4 was an opportunity for evaluation and renewal, with the establishment of official cooperation protocols ensuring continuity of communication between the faculty and its dynamic environment, in the general interest and to strengthen local cultural development.
The event concluded with the presentation of two prizes to the winners and the distribution of certificates of appreciation to the participants, as well as the presentation of a commemorative shield by the mayor of Baakline.
