“Access Microbiology” publishes a new study by researchers from the Lebanese University

On 27 April 2022, the scientific journal “Access Microbiology” of the British Society of Microbiology published a new study by a group of researchers in the Microbiology, Health and Environment Laboratory (LMSE) of the Faculty of Public Health and the Doctoral School of Science & Technology entitled: “Seroprevalence of Helicobacter pylori among dyspeptic patients in northern Lebanon: a 6-year retrospective study in two tertiary hospitals”.

The study aimed to determine the seroprevalence of Helicobacter pylori among patients suffering from gastrointestinal diseases in North Lebanon, in addition to determining the extent to which infection is related to demographic factors of patients.

The study included 4,000 patients and was carried out in cooperation with the medical laboratories of Nini Hospital in Tripoli and El Youssef Hospital Center in Halba - Akkar. The results showed a higher percentage of MRSA infections among males and older patients, while the infection rate was high in Akkar compared to Tripoli patients.
