LU participates in the final conference on empowering women in the Euro-Mediterranean region
The Lebanese University participated in the opening of the final conference of the project “Academic Empowerment of Women, Role Models, Equality and Sustainability in Mediterranean Universities: Towards Achieving Agenda 2030 - FREE” at Princess Sumaya University for Technology and Petra University in Jordan on 21-23 June 2022.
The opening ceremony was sponsored by the Jordanian Minister of Culture, Dr. Haifa Al-Najjar, in the presence of Arab and European academics, heads of Arab and international universities and representatives of partner universities in the project, including the Lebanese University, through an academic delegation headed by Professor Bassam Badran.
“FREE” project includes strengthening the role of female academics in Lebanon, Jordan and Syria by seeking greater and more effective participation in decision-making in higher education institutions, promoting gender equality policy and preparing empowered women models.
Dr. Marie Karim Abou Jaoude, Coordinator of the Center for Sustainability & Gender Equality (CSGE) and the “FREE ERASMUS+” project at the Lebanese University gave a set of interventions related to the project results, especially with regard to academic communication and the critical role of academic networks in empowering women.
