“Where there's a will, there's a way”, Chaybane El Jerdi receives his PhD from the Lebanese University at an advanced age
At the beginning of his eighth decade, Chaybane El Jerdi, 71, obtained his PhD in Social Sciences from the Lebanese University - Doctoral School of Literature, Humanities & Social Sciences on 22 January 2020.
Chaybane, born in Choueifat, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences and a Master’s Degree in Educational Sociology from the Lebanese University - Institute of Social Sciences. After years of discontinued education due to social circumstances, Chaybane returned to complete his PhD and dissertation that addressed the “factors affecting the parliamentary elections in Lebanon after the Taif Agreement”.
Speaking about his career, Chaybane said: "I entered public education through the Civil Service Council in 1969 and headed the Choueifat Oumara Public School, and because my ambition is timeless, I am preparing to publish a collection of books on education, sociology, politics, and my personal experience."
Chaybane concluded: "I will always cherish the Lebanese University. I hope the new government will work on supporting and developing the Lebanese University and public schools because they have enormous capacities that deserve attention and follow-up."
