The Lebanese University records outstanding ranks in the competition “Chinese Bridge 2021”
The Lebanese University, through the Center for Languages & Translation (CLT) of the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences, won the first eight places in the “Chinese Bridge” - Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Student 2021, organized by the Confucius Institute at Saint Joseph University (USJ) with the support of the Chinese Embassy in Beirut.
Students Rayan Yassin, Maria Qadri, Martin Mardini, Hanin Allam, Elette Boutros, Cynthia Matar, Rita Moujaes and Diana Abbas of the Department of Chinese Language at the CLT managed by Dr. Rabih Machaalani, achieved the first eight places in the competition, which is the most important platform for university students in the world to study Chinese and learn about China.
For the second year in a row, the language competition is organized online, and includes several stages, including a speech in Chinese, cultural questions and answers about China, and displaying skills specific to Chinese civilization.
The Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign University Students is an international competition attracting thousands of undergraduate students from more than 55 countries. It entitles the first winners to obtain university scholarships to continue their studies in China.
