Student Layal Maalouf elected member in Lebanon's first Youth Parliament
Student Layal Maalouf from the Faculty of Law, Political & Administrative Sciences (FLPAS) was elected as a member of the first Lebanese youth parliament representing the second district of Matn - Bikfaya and its suburbs.
Layal submitted an electoral program based on three main points:
- Working on a joint project between the Lebanese University and the Consumer Protection Directorate, which aims to recruit students from the Faculty of Law, Political & Administrative Sciences and the Faculty of Economics & Business Administration to monitor prices in commercial establishments, each within his/her residence, and submit official reports thereon to the Directorate and the concerned authorities.
- Working on a draft law calling for the punishment of any public facility that prevents citizens from accessing information, in implementation of the principle of transparency in public institutions.
- Demanding a penalty for stray shooters.
Layal holds a law degree from the FLPAS, and she is currently pursuing a first-year master in law and a second-year bachelor in political science.
