Dean Rabah noted that the curricula development policy was based on the following:

  • Achieve the highest possible levels of efficiency and effectiveness and keep abreast of the latest academic developments in order to comply with international standards;
  • Create new master programs with international universities, including the joint research master in "Russian-Eastern Relations and Interactions" with the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia in 2019 and the joint research master in "Persian-Arab Comparative Literature" with the University of Isfahan in 2011;
  • Increase the FLHS productivity through new projects;
  • Develop course content related to technology and its uses in scientific research and teaching;
  • Combine theory with practice and focus on student training.

Afterwards, President Badran delivered a speech in which he said, "Updating curricula is an essential step to strengthen the role of universities in knowledge production, decision making and community development. As such, we can re-evaluate our performance thanks to the latest scientific advances, find solutions to emerging problems at several levels, improve the education quality, achieve academic excellence and alleviate the structural problems that the country is going through.”

He added: “Despite the economic and health challenges, the Faculty of Letters & Social Sciences (FLHS), which is the second largest faculty of the Lebanese University, celebrates, today, the launching of its new curricula, compatible with the specializations of similar faculties, the mission and objectives of the university, and the requirements of the local and international labor markets. In this regard, we salute the efforts of Dean Rabah who watches over the good development of the faculty, in its smallest details, which proves that the university is distinguished by its professors, experienced researchers who have interest in this great scientific institution.”

President Badran concluded: “In the general circumstances, we have set ourselves the goal of improving the working environment and the situation of professors, employees and students, as much as possible. Indeed, we are currently working on the implementation of a strategy that would allow the university to face its problems, increase its development opportunities and strengthen its areas of specialization at the international level. A strategy that will be carried out by activating the institutional work, strengthening the sense of belonging to the university and promoting innovation.”

At the end of the ceremony, President Badran and Dean Rabah presented certificates of appreciation to the professors who completed the development process.
