A new article by Dr. Marwan Osman published in the international “Journal of Cellular Molecular Medicine”
The international “Journal of Cellular Molecular Medicine” published on 5 September 2021 a scientific article by Dr. Marwan Osman from the Microbiology, Health and Environment Laboratory (LMSE), addressing smoking and its impact on the development of oral candidiasis infection.
The study entitled “Smoking-aggravated oral candidiasis: Nrf2 pathway dampens NLRP3 inflammasome”, was carried out in collaboration with Dr. Nicolas Papon from the University of Angers, France, and focused on smoking and its effect on increasing the susceptibility of the oral mucosa to infection with Candida albicans through activation of the Nrf2 pathway, which in turn negatively regulates NLRP3.
It is noteworthy that the LMSE of the Faculty of Public Health and the Doctoral School of Science & Technology has been conducting studies on medical fungi and the fields of infectious diseases and antifungal resistance.
