Seminar on “The Role of EU in Lebanon” at the FLPAS - Branch 1

The Faculty of Law, Political & Administrative Sciences - Branch 1 organized a seminar on “The Role of the European Union and Ways to Develop Cooperation with Lebanon.” The seminar was hosted by the EU Ambassador to Beirut, Sandra De Waele, and attended by President Bassam Badran, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Habib Kazzi, the Branch Director, Dr. Mujtaba Mortada, and a number of faculty teaching staff and students.

 

President Badran gave a speech in which he pointed out that there are dozens of cooperation agreements between the Lebanese University and the European Union and that most of the university professors were educated in European countries.

 

President Badran stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the European Union and the faculties of the Lebanese University, including the Faculty of Law, Political & Administrative Sciences, for the benefit of its students and professors.

 

Ambassador De Waele praised the cooperation between Lebanon and the European Union, stressing the importance of strengthening educational cooperation with the Lebanese University through a series of initiatives that she presented in detail. She also discussed the history and structure of the European Union, speaking about the tasks entrusted to the EU mission in Lebanon.

 

Dr. Mortada opened the seminar with a speech in which he stressed the importance and vitality of cooperation between the Faculty of Law and the European Union, proposing a number of areas that could constitute productive cooperation between the Union and the faculty.

 

The speakers' words were followed by a discussion between the EU Ambassador and the students on a number of issues.
