Scientific Qualifications

  • PhD in Islamic History from Saint Joseph University, Beirut in 1984;
  • PhD - third cycle in Islamic History from the Sorbonne University - Paris I in 1980;
  • Bachelor in Political Science from the Faculty of Law, Political & Administrative Sciences at the Lebanese University;
  • Bachelor in History from the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences at the Lebanese University.

Professional Career

  • Dean of the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences at the Lebanese University between 2006 and 2008;
  • Head of the History Department at the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences at the Lebanese University between 1981 and 1983;
  • Member of the Committee for Accepting PhD Projects in History - Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences at the Lebanese University from its formation until 2008;
  • Vice President of the Islamic University for Studies and Scientific Research between 2014 and 2017;
  • Lecturer at Saint Joseph University, Beirut and at the Military Academy, and supervisor of dozens of master's thesis and PhD dissertations at the Lebanese University, Saint Joseph University and the Islamic University;
  • Member of the School History Curriculum Planning Committee at the Center for Educational Research and Development (CRDP);
  • Head of the cultural platform at the Islamic Association for Specialization and Scientific Guidance, Beirut - Lebanon, and Director at “Al Sanabel Orphan Care”;
  • Member of the “German Middle East Studies Association” and the School of Mamluk Studies, Chicago – USA;
  • Founding member of the “Lebanese Association for History”;
  • Founding member of the “Lebanese Group for Friendship and Christian Islamic Dialogue” (GLADIC), and member of its administrative board;
  • Author of a number of books, research papers and studies related to Islamic history, history of Lebanon, Sufism and globalization;
  • Participant in dozens of conferences, seminars, and scientific, radio and television seminars in Lebanon and abroad.
