Scientific Qualifications

  • PhD in History from Saint Joseph University of Beirut in 1984;
  • Master in History from the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences at the Lebanese University in 1979;
  • Bachelor in History from the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences at the Lebanese University in 1974;
  • Bachelor in Lebanese Law from AL Hikma University College for Teaching Law in 1970;
  • Diploma in Electricity, Radio & Television from the Civil Wireless College in Beirut in 1963.

Professional Career

  • Lecturer at the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences of the Lebanese University in 1982;
  • Holder of the rank of Professor in 1994;
  • Dean of the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences between 1997-2001;
  • Director of the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences (Branch 2) between 1993-1997;
  • Head of the Department of History at the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences (Branch 2) in 1992;
  • Appointed rapporteur of the Lebanese Doctoral Committee in History at the Lebanese University in 1992, and a member of the Committee for Accepting Doctoral Dissertation Projects in History in 1996;
  • Contributed to the establishment and launch of the Center for Languages & Translation of the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences in 1996;
  • Former member of the Union of Arab Historians, the Ottoman Historical Society, the Lebanese Association for History (Vice-President), the Al-Hikma Academy, the Lebanese Society for Research and Historical Studies, and the Chinese-Arab Friendship Association (CAFA);
  • Author of publications, research and articles published on history, geography, education, identity and journalism;
  • Awarded a number of local and international honors in recognition of his intellectual gifts and research achievements.
