Professor Bassam Badran appointed as President of the Lebanese University
The Council of Ministers appointed, on 12 October 2021, Professor Bassam Badran as President of the Lebanese University, thus succeeding Professor Fouad Ayoub.
Professor Badran was the Dean of the Faculty of Science since 2017, and headed the Covid-19 screening laboratory since 2020. He holds a PhD in Molecular Immunology, a Master of Advanced Studies in Molecular Biology from the Free University of Brussels, and a Master of Science in Biochemistry from the Lebanese University.
The newly appointed President is a member of the Regional Advisory Board for the development of research policies in the Middle East and North Africa within the “Future Earth – MENA”, and a researcher involved in the development of scientific research, within the framework of programs supported by the European Union and the Francophone University Agency.
Professor Badran is the author of more than 90 papers published in international scientific journals, and received several international scientific awards, including the “Royal Academy of Belgium Award” in 2007, the “Cambridge University Best Medical Work Award” in 2013, and the national “CNRS Excellence in Cancer Research Award” in 2015.
