“Scientific Reports” publishes the 3rd study part of student Rim Bayaa on tuberculosis

The international scientific journal “Scientific Reports” published the 3rd part of the results of study conducted by the doctoral student Rim Bayaa. The study entitled “Multi-country evaluation of RISK6, a 6-gene blood transcriptomic signature, for tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment monitoring” relates to a genetic fingerprint of six genes taken from human blood samples to assess their effectiveness as a test for diagnosing and treating tuberculosis.

The study analysis demonstrated the effectiveness of this genetic test. Researchers found that the results took into account the standards of the World Health Organization for such tests that can be applied in developing countries where the prevalence of tuberculosis is widespread.

Rim is pursuing her 3rd year doctoral study in Bacterial Diseases under the joint supervision of the Microbiology, Health and Environment Laboratory (LMSE) of the Faculty of Public Health and the Doctoral School of Science & Technology of the Lebanese University, and the Laboratory of Emerging Pathogens of Claude Bernard University Lyon 1.
