Latest CDC health recommendations: Complete sterilization no longer necessary to control Covid-19
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States estimates that the risk of transmission of Covid-19 through contact with a contaminated surface (door handle, light switch, tables, desks, etc.) is very low.
Indeed, the organization had previously announced that the virus could be spread mainly by large respiratory droplets that would remain suspended on surfaces. This announcement had caused great concern, prompting several countries to sterilize their homes, schools, businesses and subway stations, etc.
However, the CDC stated that it is still theoretically possible to get the virus from a surface only if an infected person coughs or sneezes thereon. Therefore, experts believe that disinfectants are not necessary and that hand washing, wearing a mask and cleaning surfaces with soap and water are more than sufficient.
