The Neuroscience Research Center at the Faculty of Medical Sciences presents a qualitative scientific research
The international scientific journal “Heliyon” published a study prepared by a group of professors and students of the Neuroscience Research Center of the Faculty of Medical Sciences entitled: “Prognostic impact of adenylyl cyclase-associated protein 2 (CAP2) in glioma: A clinicopathological study”.
The study relied on assessing the expression of "CAP2" gene at the level of protein in glioma brain tumors compared with normal brain tissue by means of immunohistochemistry analysis. Statistical analysis of CAP2 protein expression level in normal and tumor tissues was also performed to assess its clinical and predictive significance in survival rate. The results showed a high expression of CAP2 protein in gliomas compared to normal tissues, which was associated with a lower survival rate.
The importance of this study is that CAP2 is a prognostic biomarker and an ideal candidate for therapeutic targeting of patients with brain gliomas.
It is worth mentioning that this study is the first scientific research in the world focusing on the expression of CAP2 gene protein in brain gliomas.
