“Hospitality News Middle East” published the results of a questionnaire prepared by Dr. Socrate Ghadban and Dr. Jad Abou Arraj from the Faculty of Tourism & Hospitality Management at the Lebanese University, and related to the impact of the economic crisis and Coronavirus pandemic in Lebanon on domestic tourism.
The results of the questionnaire entitled “Understanding the impact of Lebanon’s economic crisis and COVID-19 on domestic tourism”, and conducted online, showed a deterioration in the purchasing power of Lebanese citizens, and thus a decrease in their ability to travel abroad and a trend towards domestic tourism.
Social media was the most preferred source of information about destinations and services provided in the local market, followed by word of mouth for further inquiries and reservations.
According to respondents, Chouf region ranked first among popular destinations, followed by Batroun and Akkar, due to the attractions that these areas enjoy and the opportunities they provide for visitors, ranging from enjoying nature, biodiversity, discovery, recreational activities and relaxation.
