Launching the afforestation campaign of Zahlé campus in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture
The afforestation campaign of Zahle campus was launched on 24 June 2021, under the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture & Culture, in the presence of President Fouad Ayoub, religious and political personalities, and a number of deans, directors, and professors of the Lebanese University.
The Minister of Agriculture & Culture, Abbas Mortada stressed the major role of the Faculty of Agronomy in the Beqaa region, called for demographic equity through a multidisciplinary academic presence in disadvantaged areas, and praised the results of cooperation between the Lebanese University and the Ministry.
President Fouad Ayoub stressed the necessity of the establishment of Zahle campus for the university, its faculty, administrative staff and students, indicating that the first steps are to cooperate with the Ministry of Agriculture & Culture, which provided more than 600 trees to fence the campus.
President Ayoub added that this afforestation campaign is part of the university strategy to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
At the end of the event, a group of students from the Faculty of Agronomy planted the trees provided to fence the campus, under the supervision of their dean Nadine Nassif.
